Neither method is universally better. Waterless cleaning may fit suitable light contamination and work areas where a conventional rinse is not preferred, while wet washing may fit broader buildup when water use, runoff, and facility permission allow it.

The Main Difference
Waterless washing relies on selected product application and careful microfiber handling instead of a conventional wet rinse. Wet washing uses water, aircraft-cleaning products, low-pressure application, hand washing, a deionized-water rinse, and drying. The aircraft’s actual condition and surface requirements come before the method name.

Contamination Level
A lightly dusty hangared aircraft presents a different cleaning problem from an aircraft with broad grime, gritty material, heavy residue, or mixed contamination. Waterless cleaning involves direct surface contact, so the amount and character of material matter. It should not be assumed appropriate merely because a facility has limited water access.
Wet washing can help carry loosened material through a water-based process, but it is not a universal answer either. Surface information, sensitive areas, facility rules, and the proposed scope still require review.
Dust, Bugs, and Heavy Grime
Light dust, fingerprints, and suitable bug buildup may fit careful waterless aircraft washing. Bug residue across broader forward surfaces or material combined with other exterior buildup may support a wet-wash discussion.
“Heavy grime” is not a fixed category. Owners should describe visible buildup, where it appears, and how long it has been present. An on-site review may change the recommendation if the actual condition differs from the quote description.
Products, Microfiber Towels, and Hand Washing
Product selection matters with either method. Ozark Aircraft Wash uses RealClean Aviation Products selected for aircraft cleaning and appearance care. That does not mean every product or method is suitable for every surface. Owners should disclose special coatings, finishes, transparencies, sensitive materials, existing concerns, and manufacturer restrictions.
Waterless technique depends heavily on controlled product application and towel management. Microfiber towels should be handled and changed as needed rather than carrying loosened material unnecessarily across a surface. Wet washing also requires deliberate hand work; water by itself does not clean every residue, and the service is not described as automated or high-pressure washing.
Water Availability and What the Business Brings
Ozark Aircraft Wash arrives with its own equipment, products, and water supply. A waterless appointment does not mean the business arrives unprepared for other service needs, and a wet-wash request does not require the owner to promise a customer-provided water source.
The business bringing water does not override a facility’s rules. The customer must still confirm that the proposed cleaning is allowed.
Facility Rules and Runoff
Wet washing may create site-specific water-use or runoff questions. Customers should notify the airport, FBO, hangar operator, or private facility when required and confirm that the proposed work area permits the process.
Waterless cleaning may reduce conventional rinse needs, but it does not create automatic permission. Gate, ramp, hangar, security, aircraft, and facility access remain the customer’s responsibility for either method.
Limitations of Both Methods
- No method is advertised as appropriate for every aircraft, finish, or contamination level.
- Neither method is paint correction, scratch repair, maintenance, inspection, or surface restoration.
- No complete removal result is promised for stains, oxidation, corrosion, defects, or unknown residue.
- Cleaning does not establish mechanical condition or airworthiness.
- Owner preference matters, but it cannot replace facility permission or disclosed surface restrictions.
How to Request a Useful Recommendation
Provide the aircraft category, storage context, general exterior condition, locations of bugs or heavier residue, proposed work location, preferred method if any, related services, special surfaces or manufacturer restrictions, and preferred timing. Photos may help describe condition when the owner chooses to provide them, but the website does not request sensitive identifiers.
At least 24 hours of advance notice is preferred. Availability may vary based on travel, weather, facility access, and existing commitments. Longer-distance appointments are considered individually, and travel charges may apply.
